Grey-banded Mining Bee Andrena denticulata (Kirby, 1802)
Rather an uncommon Andrena in Nottinghamshire, with records coming from the more forested areas of the county, which lie of free-draining, generally sandy sites. Like many Andrenas, Andrena denticulata can be 'lost' among more common species and with so few people interested in our Hymenopterous fauna, further records are hardly likely to be forthcoming. The one below, was found and photographed in a Bestwood garden by Sandra Parkin, in early July 2024.
