Agrilus cyanescens (Ratzeburg, 1837)
This is another very recent addition to the Nottinghamshire Buprestidae fauna, discovered new to VC56 when discovered at the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust's Gamston Wood reserve in June 2024 by Samantha Batty. Agrilus cyanescens had been expected to turn up in Nottinghamshire for a number of years and had indeed been looked for, in view of it's recent range expansion into a number of counties across central/southern England.

The larvae are associated with Honeysuckle Lonicera periclymenum, but the adults will no doubt occur on a range of trees and shrubs close by. The one photographed was actually found on Hazel Corylus avellana. Grateful thanks must go to Samantha Batty, who very kindly provided the Gamston Wood specimen for photographing and to illustrate on this website.
