Ash Bark Beetle Hylesinus varius (Fabricius, 1775)
A tiny bark beetle (2.75mm), the Ash Bark Beetle is mostly found on Ash, as its name suggests. Because of the increase in popularity for burning logs again, this beetle can often be found indoors after emerging from logs readied for the fire. This one though, was found alive in a spiders web on our kitchen windowsill at Market Warsop in late March 2012.
